Final Major Project - University College Falmouth

This collection is based on the emotional connection between highlighted events in my personal life. These events stem from living in three distinguishable places: Cornwall, Devon and Canada. Three corners of the world separated by distance and disjointed in time. The seamless merging of photos taken in these areas and the fantasy ‘microscapes’ created, is a style innovation I believe describes the compelling connection between these three separate lives.

The collection has a prominent romantic theme, there is a sense of imaginative, diverse worlds merging together to create a single scene that unsettles the mind. This is in direct correlation to the unsettled life I experienced from continually being four thousand miles away from my boyfriend. These strong emotions manifest themselves into a distinct sense of distance within the work.

Overall, the collection has evolved into a romanticised world where nature and fantasy take over the rational and logical mind, where one can be free of the constraints of the real world and delve into something lush, textural, and picturesque.
